Highlights were:

A long term work programme has been accepted.

BISFA test methods (booklets) were revised for Textured Yarns and Polyester Staple. The work on a revision of Cellulosic Filament and Terminology continues.

BISFA supported the application to the EU Commission for a new generic name for yarns based on PA/PP Polymer blends (Propylamide composite, applicant Aquafil), and for PTT (Trimethylenester, applicant Shell), and for Melamine (applicant Basofil) based fibres. The application supported by BISFA for elastic co-olefin yarn (Elastolefin, applicant Dow) was successful and was published in the Official Journal in February 2007.

BISFA continues to cooperate with CEN and ISO. BISFA chairs an ISO working group on staple fibre crimp standardisation
The ISO working group on Textile names, supported by BISFA, had a last meeting and the draft revised standard entered the stage of voting procedures.

The 2006 accounts and the budget for 2008 have been approved.
