BISFA in 2008

The applications for new generic fibre names for Propylamide Composite and Melamine are still in work with the EU Commission, whereas in the case of Trimethylenester still no decision was taken if it is considered as a candidate (a parallel application for this fibre class takes place in US and Japan). The BISFA request to implement a more efficient system for the application of new generic names, was responded by the EU Commission with proposals, that are now in the process of realization. The BISFA supported revision of the ISO 2076 standard on textile names was drafted and circulated for voting. This revision aims to include the parallel names PLA/Polylactide , Elasterell-p/Elastomultiester , Lastol/Elastolefin. The BISFA standards for Polyester Staple, Textured yarns and Cellulosic Filament were revised and printed. Standards are now also available in electronic version.A major revision of the Terminology standard is in work.
