Generic fibre names forman-made synthetics (2)

• For historical reasons 1 fibre can use two generic names:polyamide or nylon are synonym

• the generic name nylon covers:

  • nylon 6 (polycaprolactam)
  • nylon 46
  • nylon 66
  • nylon 11

• i.e. different monomers and very different fibre properties
